A true omen, it marks the starting point of this long hiking adventure. The rural sanctuary of Nostra Madonna del Buon Cammino is located 2 km from the outskirts of Santa Teresa Gallura: from here, the first leg begins, heading from the coast into the first hills. The route is 9 km of paved and white roads, and a short stretch of dirt track that passes through populated areas until reaching the locality of Saltàra. The toponym derives from Saltàro, the name of the judge of Gallura in 1110, whose mother, Marcusa, named one of the peaks of Gennargentu. The stage ends, after skirting the tourist area of Rena Majore, near the agriturismos Saltàra and Sardo Paolina.
