Hiking
A rather long and intricate stage that involves traversing the ridge of Montalbo, following it for a good stretch along the crests in typically karstic environments with panoramic views of up to 360 degrees, crossing its entire southern slope which is densely forested, down to the valley crossed by S.P.45 and S.S 131 DCN near Monte Pizzinnu. After crossing these major roads, still in heavily wooded areas, the route ascends the northern slope of the Monti Remulis up to an altitude of 500 meters, continuing northwards to the Janna pass, from which a stretch of paved road leads to the stopping point of Norghio. This stage alternates between trails, tracks, forest roads, and sections of paved roads, making it very varied but certainly quite demanding given the elevation changes. Due to its length, it is possible, for those who find it necessary, to break it up into two or more days with the option for independent bivouacs in some suitable areas (there are appropriate structures for bivouac at Altudè N 40.48638° E 9.56507° and in Talachè N40.48356° E9.62311°) or by contacting the Ammentos facility N 40.54168° E 9.60236° (formerly Cantoniera Guzzurra on SP 3), reaching out in advance to Tonino Taras at cell 3496351871 (closed during the winter period) and accessible via a short detour on numbered CAI trails. Great care should be taken in case of fog, which is frequent at high altitudes. Water availability is limited.
