Hiking
To reach the starting point, you move from the reception area at Hotel Ristorante Rifugio d'Ogliastra towards the countryside church located 800 meters ahead, where the previous stage ends. You begin with a slight ascent heading southwest, walking on a wide and comfortable dirt road for about 2 km, circling around the mountain that is on your right. You then turn left onto an uphill path until you reach and cross the S.P. 23. You walk to the right of the provincial road, following the CAI signage, being cautious of several intersections that you encounter before reaching the parking area of the wind farm. Here, you can admire the artwork by the artist Ulassase Maria Lai, "the capture of the wing of the wind," a tribute to the use of renewable energy sources. On the right, after passing an always-open gate, you walk among the wind turbines. After about 1.5 km, you can see the summit of "Montecodi" on the left, where there is a military and civilian radar. You continue on the dirt road used by staff for maintenance of the turbines for approximately 2 km. After passing two gates on your right, taking a slight detour of about 400 meters, you will find a small dam where you can find refreshment, especially during the hot Sardinian summer. After the section with the wind turbines, you proceed for about 100 meters next to the provincial road, before re-entering the trail that will take you down to the valley. The path continues with a constant descent, and just before reaching the valley floor, a detour of about 300 meters to the right is highly recommended to arrive at the riverbank, where you can admire a millenary fraxinus tree, with a circumference of over 5 meters (in Sardinian filueverru or arridellu) N39.71043° E9.45934°. Back on the main trail, you descend until you cross a small stream. At this point, there is a small door to prevent animals from getting out (the gate must always be closed after passing through), you cross it and continue along a narrow path with a steady ascent, softened by a few bends, walking for about 20 minutes. Upon reaching the top of the trail, you emerge into a clearing where there is a beautiful archaeological site still under study. Next to the site are three restored pinnetos (which can also be used as temporary shelters) and various enclosures that our ancestors used as shelter for their herds. From here, you can admire the entire valley below, where a tributary of the Rio Flumineddu, known as Rio su Ludu, flows. Leaving the site, a dirt road leads uphill to the shepherd Costantino Carta's sheepfold, to whom credit is due for working on restoring the pinnetos. Continuing for about 300 meters, you find another archaeological site with nuraghi (here too only ruins), a beautiful sacred well, and various circular bases, mostly covered with earth. The path continues on a wide gravel road heading south, arriving after about 2 km near the sports field (where there is a water fountain) signaling that we are close to the end of the stage. The stage concludes 800 meters further on the outskirts to the north of the village, at the intersection that leads us to the Santa Barbara forest. From the end of the stage to the center of the village, it is about 800 meters. In Perdasdefogu, there are various B&Bs and also a small hotel, grocery stores, etc. The village is small and hosts a military base. Note: there is no water along the stage route. The only sources are one at the starting point near the little church of San Antonio and the other after the sports field of Perdasdefogu.
