The last stage of the Sentiero Italia in Molise is of medium length and elevation change, concluding in the province of L’Aquila. From San Pietro Avellana, the trail descends northward until it crosses the Sangro River, where a long ascent begins, initially passing through the village of Rocca Cinquemiglia and then reaching an elevation of 1300 meters near the settlement of Pietransieri. From here, a short descent leads to the town of Roccaraso, finishing in Rivisondoli. This is the point where the Sentiero Italia splits between the Abruzzo section and the Lazio section.
