Hiking
The eastern branch of the Sentiero Italia begins in the town of Grottaglie and features an initial stage of moderate length and minimal elevation gain as it approaches the Murge plateau. Exiting the town towards the northeast, you reach Villa Castelli, which you cross while continuing north. In this section, the trail climbs about a hundred meters in elevation and then continues level until you reach Contrada Ulmo, at the edge of the Ulmo Pine Forest and at the foot of Monte dell’Olmo, following the route of the Acquedotto Pugliese cycle path.
